It all started when…
Louisiana boys Jordan Powell and Curb Records Artist Dylan Scott are two buddies who live separate lives but share the same interests and goals. COVID-19 in 2020 brought them together in Monroe, LA, at “Dirt on the Rev,” where Jordan helped Dylan by parking cars, grilling hamburgers, picking up trash, and doing whatever was needed to keep the event running smoothly. At that time, Jordan was unemployed due to oil field layoffs and had a newborn at home.
Neither Dylan nor Jordan had trash service at their homes, and they were using dumpsters in Union Parish for waste disposal. That situation sparked an idea—buying a trailer to pick up trash for anyone willing to pay for it. After a few months, the Town of Chatham reached out with an offer for a truck for sale. Jordan earned the Town of Chatham’s business, and soon, the phone was ringing non-stop. Once their first truck couldn't handle the workload, they upgraded to a brand-new trash truck—and the business kept growing.
Five years later, the duo is still picking up trash, and The Trash Guys has become a household name in Northeast Louisiana. The company has also established itself as a generous community partner, sponsoring local school sports teams, the Monroe Moccasins, Keep Union Beautiful, and the Louisiana Cancer Foundation’s MAD Dash 5K. They particularly enjoy taking their trucks to The Children’s Museum for kids to explore.
In 2024, Trey McLemore joined as a partner in the commercial dumpster division of the business, further expanding their services. Today, The Trash Guys operates nine trucks, with their original Chatham truck retired. The company employs 26 team members, services over 10,000 homes, and provides trash collection for over 500 businesses in Northeast Louisiana.
